The Slate Range Loop starts at the Valley Wells Recreation facility just north of the Trona airport that is also north of Trona. It is a very challenging ride that should only be ridden counter-clockwise. It does not require a street legal bike but your bike size should not exceed your ability. Experts only on greater than 450s.

Printable Map and Roll Chart are available on Jawbone.org.

Be sure and read the historical marker on the highway just north of the turnoff to Valley Wells. It describes the winter of 1849 adventure that took place in Death Valley.

These are challenging 100 mile loops that do not require street legal bikes and there is gas at 50 miles. They take all day and are not recommended for beginners. The "A" loop is recomended for experts only, it is equavalent to a serious national enduro.

The regular way from Jawbone goes through Nighmare Gulch which is only open from the 15th to end of month but closed Feb. through June. Before the 15th or in Feb. through June, use the bypass when closed.

You can have lunch in Randsburg and gas is available in Johannesburg.
