I have a Garmin 376c and I need Topos and maps for use on the Northern California trails. Mendocino, Sierra's, Stonyford, etc. Someone told me to buy City Navigator because it has most of the USFS fireroads.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

That's good to know. What I've been doing is using city nav to do basic routing since the route line sticks to the map road / trail then changing the software over to topo and it stays there. Kind of a PITA but it works.

Find using MapSource Topo to be more interesting for off road oriented dual sport riding and City Nav for more BMW GS style rides where more paved roads are involved.

I used to use City Navigator, but now I switched to Topo24k.
I like the 24k better.

One issue you'll get into with the 376c is the limited memory, biggest card I think is the Garmin 512MB and you can't put that much in there for the 24k.
