Motorcycle Used: KLR 650 with knobbies.
Type of roads/trails: maintained dirt roads and double track.

Difficulty: mostly easy with a loose rock downhill and a 1/2 mile stretch of deep sand.

Ride Description: scenic route following old SR 279, which is also an old stagecoach route. the right of way has been illegally blocked in a couple of places.

Just tried to take this route today. Coming from the south, the road appears to be blocked at -107.2588, 35.3187°

Probably should have went right at -107.2782, 35.2817. Perhaps next time i'll have planned better.

Good luck. We recently spent a couple of years trying to find a way through without success. I think capcrazy got lucky with a normally locked gate being open. Others have reported that.

We ran into a rancher a few years ago south of Cabezon who said you could get thru on Laguna indian land. We tried it from the south. There was an unlocked gate that said you had to have permission to go thru. We never got around to asking for permission. But that might work.

We did get thru a couple of times back in the 70s and early 80s. I think there was still a public road back then. But we were navigating with poor maps and it was very difficult to find a way. And I remember we went thru a couple of road closed signs.
